Papers of KMAfrica 2007
Networks, methodologies, tools and technologies that successfully achieve greater and sustainable human development are demanded on the African continent in so far as they work with and in our own cultural communities, our own surroundings and our self-awareness to identify our own knowledge and communication flows.
The individual's talents, need for learning, self-confidence and participation are fundamental to the arduous process of determining a prospectus unlike the weight of human suffering today in which poverty and disease are seemingly irreversible.
Individuals become agents having self-conception and awareness of having agency with the freedom to shape our own lives and futures. Knowledge management slogans parading as promissory notes give rise to more than a little scepticism and the time is long past that such slogans become practical collaborations as a venture in human advancement.
If we can manage to work in synergy and draw on the experience and knowledge of collaborative research in developing a system to manage regional and local knowledge, restitutive projects will benefit immeasurably based on the needs and circumstances of grass-roots communities.
